When the pandemic first started, believe it or not, I have never watched any Dragon Ball series! I was always caught up in Marvel, Star Wars, DC Universe, or Harry Potter stuff, and I was always the one staying quiet while the people surrounding me talked about how fantastic Dragon Ball was! So I decided to watch an episode or two, then I watched every episode out there! From the original Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super! So today, thanks to your guy’s help on our Instagram poll, we are going to be talking about Dragon Ball! Today’s topic? My Favorite Dragon Ball Characters and Why!

Let’s get started!

I Love Almost Every Character!

So before we get into my list! I wanted to explain how much I love almost every single character in the Dragon Ball universe! A few characters are annoying when they get in the way, like Captain Ginyu, but I still love his character. So that I don’t go on for days about every character, I’ll keep this list to a minimum of my Top 5 Favorite Dragon Ball Characters! Also, I won’t include Goku because that’s a given! I love you, Chiaotzu! Chiaotzu doesn’t get enough love!

The Prince of All Saiyan’s, Vegeta!

Vegeta started as one of the biggest *** holes! But after surrounding himself with the characters we all know and love, such as Goku, Krillin, and Bulma, he has become a very important and loved character in the series! He has no quit in him when he battles, and he gives it his all! He has an unbelievable work ethic and will do anything to improve his power! Vegeta comes across as a loving guy who tries to hide it from everyone. But we see right through you, buddy! And it’s okay; we love you too. I think it’s hilarious when he shows he loves and cares for Bulma and his children but still acts super stubborn! He has a nice balance.

Krillin

Krillin was there from the jump! Back in the original Dragon Ball series Krillin made his presence, and he was immediately one of my favorite characters! The reason I love his character is how you can always (sometimes needing a little push) count on Krillin to be there when you need him most! And he knows when he isn’t going to be any help when facing a powerful enemy, so he steps aside and lets Goku or Vegeta handle it. He’s not just constantly stepping in and getting his butt whooped cause he knows his place! I love that, along with the loving friendship with Goku and the Uncle-like relationship he has with Gohan.

Piccolo

Demon King Piccolo was once a big bad enemy in the original Dragon Ball series. He created an egg containing his offspring and launched it somewhere far away on the earth when he was about to be defeated by a young 12-year-old Goku! After three years, Piccolo grew into a challenging foe in the world martial arts tournament, but Goku still proved to be too much for him. Years passed, and Piccolo teams up with Goku and his friends to fight against the evil Saiyans. Ever since they had a bond, and we’re friends ever since.

The reason I love Piccolo and consider him one of my favorite characters. He is one of the original Dragon Ball characters that evolved alongside Goku and can at least compete with the powerful enemies in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. Another reason is the bond Piccolo and Gohan have is incredible. Piccolo is like another father figure to Gohan. Which Gohan seems to need because Goku is always off who knows where training.

Emperor Frieza

Yes, Frieza! Initially, I HATED Frieza because in Dragon Ball Z, when Krillin, Gohan, and Vegeta were on planet Namek trying to collect the dragon balls, Frieza killed Krillin. Also, when Goku defeated him left with half of his body and one arm, Goku showed mercy and gave him some of his energy. Then when a Goku flew away, Frieza decided to use that energy to make one final attempt to kill Goku! Come on, dude! Just accept defeat and move on, MAYBE come back and fight another day.

The reason I ended up liking Frieza was during the tournament of power. Even though Frieza was only in it for himself, he was a big help throughout the tournament and was a big part of getting the victory.

Trunks & Goten

I know it’s two different characters, but I love the dynamic between them, so I decided to put them together as one! I love how confident they are; even at times, they shouldn’t be. Goten isn’t the smartest of the pair, and trunks act as the leader. Making them a very entertaining pair to watch. They are also mighty fighters, and it’s fun watching just some little kids beat up other powerful beings at such a young age!

My favorite moment with these two was their battle against Major Buu! They didn’t win, but it was one of the most entertaining and funniest battles on the show! With the two kids constantly making jokes and acting overly confident!

That’s All Folks!
